About Me
Hi! My name is Frankie and I am the sole owner of The Yarn Zoo. I currently live in Germany with my wife and our dog, and work at the Max-Planck Institute. I hold a PhD in Forensic Anthropology, but crochet is my favorite way to relax. I’ve been crocheting since 2020 and started designing my own patterns in 2021. I mainly love making animals, with a focus on realism and unique, individual features.
Patterns
All the patterns available here are my original creations. I also have an Etsy store (https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheYarnZooStore), but I prefer customers to use Sellfy—this helps keep fees low and supports my small business.
For even more savings, you can message me directly on Instagram @theyarnzoo to purchase via Venmo or PayPal, which is often the cheapest option for both sides.
Sales & Events
Every two weeks I host a Hook & Hustle: I select one of my patterns to be 50% off for two days (from Wednesday to Friday). If you make the pattern during the following two weeks and post your finished project on Instagram, tagging me, you’ll be entered into a giveaway for a free pattern! Business info & VAT
The Yarn Zoo is operated as a Kleingewerbe under German law. As such, according to §19 UStG, I do not charge VAT (“small business regulation applies, no VAT is charged”).
Digital Products & Returns
All sales are for digital crochet patterns (PDF files). Since these are digital downloads, returns, refunds, and exchanges are not possible.
Copyright & Usage
All patterns are © The Yarn Zoo (Frankie). You may sell finished items made from my patterns, but please credit The Yarn Zoo as the designer.

Q: Are your patterns beginner-friendly?
A: Most patterns are suitable for advanced beginners and up. If there are special techniques or complex steps, I provide video tutorials.
Q: What if I lose my pattern file?
A: No problem! Email me with your order details, and I can resend your files.
Q: Do you offer custom pattern designs?
A: Occasionally! Message me on Instagram to discuss.
Q: Can I sell finished items?
